As part of the Science Summit of the 78th United Nations General Assembly, CBRS Executive Director Dr. Jennie Z. Young joined international colleagues for a session on “Brain Capital,” — a concept that recognizes brain health and brain skills as essential resources for economic growth, social resilience, and innovation.
The event, organized by the Brain Capital Alliance, highlighted how investing in brain health can strengthen education, workforce productivity, and societal wellbeing, and how these approaches link directly to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
CBRS brought forward Canada’s perspective, emphasizing the importance of linking brain health and research to global policy priorities.
The session contributed to a correspondence in, “Brain capital is crucial for global sustainable development,” published in early 2024 in The Lancet Neurology.
